description

The project engages a whole community with its bold design for a new church, community and nursery in Newcastle. The two-phase development, included the demolition of the existing St. Martin’s Church and replacing it with a new contemporary-looking building with curved roof forms. The nursery was completed in December 2005 with the community/church centre opened in April 2006.

The nursery houses four separate playrooms for children from 0 to four-years-old, while the community facility, with its lounge, kitchen and four multi-purpose halls, will run childcare, parenting and cookery courses alongside the usual church activities.

The scheme is aimed at developing the whole family and extending the range of facilities available to enable the church to serve the local community in a much greater way.
