description

The East Shore Village residential development on the old Vane Tempest colliery site is currently underway. The development, which is being led by a consortium of regional house builders including, Yuill Homes. Haslam Homes and Miller Homes - marks a major step forward in housing regeneration in East Durham. The scheme will comprise 650 homes including private sale, self-build and social housing. Also on the development there will a nursing home, pub/restaurant, shops, community facilities and extensive recreational and open space. More new homes could be planned for the town on the former Seaham Colliery site. There are expectations this land could be built on once the Vane Tempest project is in the later stages of its development. The relocation of Seaham Harbour Dock Company has also allowed for a unique opportunity to bring new life into the heart of the town. It is hoped the town centre will be expanded on to the old dock company site bringing with it a supermarket and other retail units
