description

This superb Grade 1 listed property comprises a substantial three storey building with basement, set in mature woodland with open lawned areas.

The site was originally purchased in 1790 by John Boyes, a merchant from Hull and it is believed the house was completed around 1796. In 1818, Boyes sold the house to another merchant, William Voase and although Voase died in 1845 Anlaby House remained in the family for many years and was considerably altered during this time. When the family sold the property to Mr. Earle, the Voase family moved to Southampton and named their new home ‘Anlaby House’. Earle was succeeded by Mr. Jalland and in 1935 Anlaby House was acquired for local government office buildings by the former Haltemprice Urban Council and later by Beverley Borough Council until it was sold to Bramley Holdings in 1999.

We have been employed as architects to oversee redevelopment of the site for a variety of uses that will enhance the area and complement the setting of this fine building and its grounds. The existing building is ideal for office use but will also suite a sympathetic conversion into Residential, Hotel, Conference or Restaurant uses. Other development potential exists for high quality housing or a nursing home within the grounds of the House to enhance the magnificent setting.
