This new development will replace the former Manors care home in Prudhoe, West Wylam, with a highly specialist facility which will be the first of its kind in the county.
The scheme will cater for a wide range of people with different needs. There will be single people living there as well as couples. It will cater for people who need a little bit of home help, and for those who need a lot of regular care.
The Extra Care facility, scheduled for completion in May 2009 - will also include a restaurant, sun lounge area, hair salon, carpet bowls facility, an internet lounge and health care consulting rooms for the community.
From the 46 specialist apartments, 34 will be for rent while 12 will be available for shared ownership.
