Winners of 2008 RICS North East Renaissance Awards for Community Benefit, this new build development at Hardwick for 30 Apartments and 20 Bungalows for the elderly.
The dwellings are designed to offer spacious accommodation for elderly persons in two bedroom apartments or bungalows, in a secure environment, together with communal support facilities, and other amenities.
Accommodation comprises kitchen, lounges, gymnasium, assisted bathrooms, office and staff accommodation, refuse rooms, lift, communal toilets, shop and IT/ Hobbies room, many of which will be available for public use. All dwellings have either a patio or balcony facing outwards towards external public spaces, with controlled access from the
internal court and corridors for security.
The external materials are a mixture of masonry, cladding and render which will compliment the materials used in the area. The design includes sympathetic landscaping through
mature tree planting and will include robust boundary treatments including brick walls and metal railings.
